Members of the 148th Fighter Wing, Duluth National Guard Base, Minn., and the 133rd Airlift Wing, Minneapolis-St. Paul Joint Air Reserve Station, Minn., as well as Air Force Reserve Airmen from across the U.S., combined to participate in Operation Walking Shield at Cass Lake, Minn., July 11-20, 2017. Operation Walking Shield is a Medical Innovative Readiness Training exercise that allows Airmen to complete annual deployment readiness training while providing real-world medical care for under served rural populations. Airmen participating in Operation Walking Shield provided medical, dental, and optometry services at no cost to the population of Cass Lake and surrounding local communities.
