Children Sing Honoring United States Military

MASTIC BEACH, NY- Children from Tangier Smith Elementary School honor members of the New York National Guard by singing the Pledge of Allegiance on November 9, 2012. The children also shared inspirational drawings while meeting the Guardsmen. The NY National Guard continues to provide relief following Hurricane Sandy as parts of Long Island still struggle with power outages and other problems caused by the severe storm. Included in the military members was Colonel Thomas Owens, 106th Rescue Wing Commander. The 106th Rescue Wing's is currently providing support in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and continuing to deploy worldwide to provide combat search and rescue coverage for U.S. and allied forces. The 106th Rescue Wing is a New York Air National Guard unit stationed at Francis S. Gabreski Airport in Westhampton Beach, New York.
