USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6)
Jan. 20, 2015 | 0:19
An F/A-18D Hornet aircraft assigned to Marine all-weather Fighter Attack Squadron 242 flies a simulated landing pattern as part of forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard's (LHD 6) Precision Approach Landing System (PALS) certification. Sailors from Bonhomme Richard's Amphibious Air Traffic Control Center (AATCC) and technicians from Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) controlled the aircraft through multiple instrument approaches while conducting the necessary tests to achieve PALS certification. Bonhomme Richard is currently conducting operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility.
