U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Carlos Techera was involved in a fatal UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter crash while deployed to Afghanistan in 2014. Since then, Techera has overcome adversity to graduate from the U.S. Army Air Assault school, U.S. Army Ranger school and competed in the 2018 U.S. Army Best Ranger Competition. Techera continues to honor Jake Wykstra by teaching and motivating others to push through adversity to accomplish their goals. (U.S. Army video by 1st Lt. Ryan DeBooy)
