U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border, U.S. Coast Guardsmen and U.S. Border Patrol agents come together for an tri-partner operations along the Rio Grande to emplace signs on Bowers Island near Roma, Texas, Jan. 31, 2026. Bowers Island was identified in 2025 to be a popular staging location for illegal activities by drug cartels and popular crossing for illegal entry. Joint Task Force-Southern Border executes full-scale, agile and all-domain operations in support of U.S. Customs and Border Protection to protect the territorial integrity of the United States and achieve 100% operational control of the southern border.
