March 13, 2012 | 9:57
A platoon of Bangladeshi soldiers patrol during Exercise Shanti Doot-3. The soldiers are tested on how well they react to a hostage situation, women that have been assaulted, and a family that has been harassed by a gunman. The platoon also talks to village members in order to collect information on hostile individuals that have been reported in the area. The exercise is being conducted at the Bangladesh Institute of Peace Support Operations Training (BIPSOT) a peacekeeping training facility located approximately 60 kilometers north of Dhaka, Bangladesh. The exercise is a Bangladesh armed forces hosted and U.S. Pacific Command (US PACOM) Global Peace Operations Initiative (GPOI) supported joint multi-national exercise designed to give operations, logistics, planning and tactical peace-keeping training to members of 13 different countries in preparation for United Nations Peace-keeping Operations.
