A specialized recovery team assigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency sets up operations in Dien Bien province, Vietnam, Nov. 12, 2015, in the search of two crew members of an F-4C aircraft lost during the Vietnam War. Team members work with local workers to set up structures and items needed for excavation operations to include wet screening stations, sandbags and pumps. Upon arrival, the recovery leader, either a forensic archeologist or anthropologist will mark out an excavation grid with wooden stakes. DPAA, in its continued commitment to find and repatriate lost Service members, conducts global search, recovery and laboratory operations to support the Department of Defense’s personnel accounting efforts. DPAA deploys teams from its operational office based at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Hawaii to provide the fullest possible accounting of missing personnel to their families and the nation.(DoD video by Staff Sgt.
