M109A7 Paladin Demonstrates Enhanced Firepower and Modernized Artillery Capabilities
Fort Bliss Public Affairs Office
Feb. 24, 2026 | 4:13
The U.S. Army’s M109A7 Paladin delivers enhanced firepower and modernized capabilities to today’s battlefield. Lt. Col. Fred Janoe, 4-1 Artillery Commander and Sgt. Christian Armstrong, 4-1 Field Artillery, spoke with Crista Mack, Fort Bliss Garrison Public Affairs, about the Army’s newest self-propelled howitzer. It features improved survivability, upgraded digital fire control systems, and increased onboard power generation to support advanced communications and targeting systems. Built on a modernized chassis, it provides greater mobility and reliability while maintaining the trusted 155mm cannon system. Operated by a four-Soldier crew, the M109A7 is designed to shoot, move, and communicate seamlessly — delivering timely, accurate, and long-range fires in support of maneuver forces. This platform represents a critical step forward in Army modernization and combat readiness.
