GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico, October 22, 2020 - Sports in Puerto Rico are strengthened with $15 million allocation from FEMA. Emblematic sports facilities in Puerto Rico have recovery funds approved by FEMA for repairs. The Roberto Clemente Coliseum, the San Juan Natatorium and Sixto Escobar Park are some of the facilities that will be repaired with these funds. Projects: over $7.3 million for the restoration of the Roberto Clemente Coliseum. A space renowned for sporting events and artistic shows. About $2.5 million for the repair of the San Juan Natatorium, which benefits students of the Escuela del Deporte, various swimming clubs and aquatic training in general. More than $2.2 million for the Baldrich courts. Recognized for being the only place on the island where the National Field Hockey Team practices. In addition to these funds, about $1.9 million for Sixto Escobar Park, $2.9 million for Dr. José Celso Barbosa Park and over $954,000 for the Pedrín Zorrilla Coliseum. The reconstruction of these facilities places the island in a better position for other competitive events.
