Special Operations Surgical Teams (SOST) are composed of active-duty Air Force medical professionals, including a trauma surgeon, emergency physician, nurse anesthetist, surgical scrub tech, critical-care nurse and a respiratory tech. During combat operations, the teams provide far-forward medical care.
