Mutual Aid Agreement Signing with Civilian Emergency Personnel
Fort Benning Public Affairs Office
May 14, 2019 | 3:27
What used to be agreed upon with just a handshake is now solidified in writing.

The Fort Benning Garrison Command officially signed into effect a Mutual Aid Agreement with several Chattahoochee Valley emergency service personnel specifying standard operating protocols and procedures in which Fort Benning's emergency service workforce can offer aid to its civilian counterparts outside the installation in the time of crisis.

So the Mutual Aid Agreement has always existed. But, before the signing, there was no structure and little instructions or details on how to work together. And that's when expectations can get a bit cloudy.

To clear it up, the document provides an explanation of what Fort Benning can do, how to request the use of resources, who to contact and the different apparatus included.

The agreement took two years to complete and every other year it will be reviewed, refined, and resigned.
