Dogface Soldiers host 2021 Marne Week
3rd Infantry Division
Nov. 19, 2021 | 3:10
U.S. Army Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division hosted a weeklong celebration, dubbed “Marne Week,” on Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia, Nov. 13 through 19, 2021.

Marne Week showcases the “Rock of the Marne” division, honors past and present Dogface Soldiers, Family members, and communities, enhances morale and builds camaraderie amongst teams. This year’s Marne Week was held ahead of the 104th anniversary of the 3rd ID, that was constituted at Camp Greene, North Carolina, on Nov. 21, 1917.

The 3rd ID founded their reputation as the “Rock,” as the division held the Marne River against ferocious German attacks while other allies were forced to retreat. That reputation was further strengthened as the 3rd ID battled the Axis on all European fronts in WWII, while serving as a rapid response capability during the Korean War, in defense of the West’s interests in Germany throughout the Cold War, in defense of Kuwait in Desert Storm, then as the decisive force to seize Baghdad during the 2003 invasion and for years of follow-on stability and security throughout the Middle East.
