U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow is strategically located in the Mojave Desert and connected across the Interstate 15, Interstate 40, Sante Fe railway, and the Union Pacific. Predominantly a logistical and storage location for Marine and other Department of Defense assets, the base also features the largest railway in the Department of Defense, small arms firing ranges, multiple Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) sites, special operations training, and other operations that are not well known outside of the bases gates.
