2-162 IN BN Helocasting
41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team
June 25, 2021 | 2:35
2nd Battalion, 162nd Infantry Regiment conducted Helocasting Training today in combination with their end of Annual Training Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) event at American Lake, Fort Lewis, WA, June 25, 2021. On the first lift of helocasting, Brig. Gen. Gregory Day, Land Component Commander, conducted a mid-air re-enlistment ceremony for three fortunate Soldiers.
Helocasting is an airborne technique used by small unit, special operations forces, also practiced extensively by the U.S. Army's light infantry units, to insert into a military area of operations. For example, the small team is flown, by helicopter, to a maritime insertion point.
