New unmanned vehicle gives Stryker Soldiers an eye in the sky

Soldiers from the 56th Stryker Brigade are the first in the Iraqi theater to fly the Gas Micro Air Vehicle. The GMAV is unique among unmanned aerial systems because of its ability to hover and maneuver likes a helicopter. The system is about the size of a waste paper basket and can be assembled and ready to fly in three to four minutes. The GMAV flown by the 56th Stryker Soldiers is a prototype and lessons learned from missions in Iraq are applied to the production model currently under development.
