Spring has finally arrived! With the advent of the new season, now is a wonderful time to reinvigorate our workout routines by breaking away from the gym and embracing the great outdoors. As you look to improve your physical fitness, start by focusing on your hydration and nutrition regime. Eating balanced meals and drinking plenty of water will give you the basic sustenance needed to complete whatever workout you wish to conquer. In terms of equipment, if you decide to lace up the running shoes and start jogging again make sure your sneakers are fully functional. According to therunnersguide.com, "the generally accepted consensus is runners will require a new pair of running shoes every 300-500 miles". Likewise, if you are a runner who does not keep track of your mileage, running sneakers should be replaced about once every six months. Lastly, be sure to protect your skin with waterproof sunscreen while exercising outdoors. Although the sun provides you with Vitamin D, over exposure can lead to sunburn and various forms of skin cancer. As always, if you have any questions please see your Unit Physical Training Leader (PTL). Remember, being physically fit allows you to properly support the Air Force mission so take advantage of this upcoming weather and be safe while exercising. Happy springtime everybody!
