Lt. Col. Andrew J. Wineberger is the Commander of the 106th Maintenance Group, 106th Rescue Wing, F.S. Gabreski Air National Guard Base, Westhampton Beach, N.Y. The 106th Rescue Wing operates HC-130P/N Hercules rescue aircraft, HH-60G Pavehawk helicopters as well as the Guardian Angel Weapon System, which, in turn, supports the Air Force Personnel Recovery mission. The 106th Rescue Wing is manned by more than 1,000 military and civilian personnel which performs military as well as civil search and rescue taskings. The wing also assists with state disaster relief and other emergencies as directed by the Governor of New York.
