Brigadier General James W. Kwiatkowski conducted the Change of Command ceremony and spoke to the assembled members of the Wing and audience. The 106th Rescue Wing (RQW) hosted a Change of Command Ceremony in which Col. Michael F. Canders relinquishes command of the 106th Rescue Wing to Col. Thomas J. Owens II on October 04, 2009 at F.S. Gabreski Airport (ANG), Westhampton Beach, N.Y. Brigadier General James W. Kwiatkowski (Commander, New York Air National Guard), various distinguished guest and members of the 106 RQW were in attendance to the ceremony. The Change of Command ceremony is a time-honored tradition which formally symbolizes the continuity of authority as the command is passed from one individual to another.
