New York Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Douglas Kechijian, a member of the 106th Rescue Wing in Westhampton Beach, has been named Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for the 5,600- member New York Air National Guard. Kechijian, a resident of New York City, was recognized during an April 25 ceremony in Albany by the Enlisted Association of the New York National Guard. He joined the New York Air National Guard in 2003.

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY- Col. Robert Landsiedel (ret.) prepares to cut the ribbon to officially open the new Pride and Heritage Park at FS Gabreski ANG on September 12, 2015. The new park features aircraft models connected to the 106th Rescue Wing, including an HC-130, HH-60 and F-102 Delta Dagger (flown by the 106th Fighter Interceptor Wing at Suffolk County AFB until 1975.) The BATMAN system is an Air Force research laboratory advanced technology demostration program that develops enhanced capabilities for battlefield airmen. The program applies an airmen-centric design approach to all its research and development efforts to maximize the airmen's mission effectiveness and efficiency. Hotaling conducts his final jump from a military aircraft with Pararescuemen from the 103rd Rescue Squadron, 106th Rescue Wing over FS Gabreski ANG on September 2nd, 2015. During his visit with the 106th Rescue Wing, Hotaling met with junior and senior enlisted airmen to discuss their needs and any ongoing issues they may be facing. Hotaling is the eleventh Air National Guard Command Chief Master Sergeant. He represents the highest level of enlisted leadership and is responsible for matters influencing the health, morale and welfare of assigned enlisted personnel and their families. Members of the 106th Rescue Wing Fire Department honed their firefighting skills this week at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yaphank (SCFA), N.Y., with live fire training exercises on May 12th, 2014.The SCFA facility provides firefighters with training and experience suppressing fires involving homes, commercial structures, flammable liquids, vehicles, as well as vehicle extrication.
