June 13, 1978, Seven men were lost when the Jolly 85, an HH-3E Helicopter from the 102nd ARRS (now 106th Rescue Wing), New York Air National Guard, Westhampton Beach N.Y., was returning to base after training at Plattsburgh AFB, N.Y. Encountering inclement weather, they turned to head back to Plattsburgh AFB. With low visibility, the HH-3E impacted just below the peak of Trembleau Mountain. On the 40th Anniversary of the Jolly 85 crash, we will remember and pay tribute to our Fallen Heroes. A Memorial Stone was be placed on Trembleau Mountain and at the VFW Post 1505, in Keeseville, N.Y.
